Thursday's Chatter

Thursday, March 25, 2010

This little bit of chatter got posted before I got all the recipes finished, so don't be confused that this is after two of the recipes!!  (I got called away from my computer...)

I've really missed my old way of cooking and since the new plan didn't really work out that well because I cheated too much, I'm back to the old way of doing things.  So I'm a creature of habit, what can I say??! Not to mention that I'm also a chow hound!!  I probably won't be posting as much as I did before, but at least I'll try harder to give  you all some new ideas!

I'm speaking on "Menu Planning" at a ladies get-together called "Mug and Muffin" at Community Bible Church on May 1st, so y'all, I need your help!!!  Give me some ideas about menu planning that has helped you, and what you think I should brain has been on "hold" for some time now, and I have a hard time coming up with good ideas!

The recipes that I'm posting today are great!  Several new chicken dishes and one dessert.  Try this Chicken Mushroom dish for's very easy and really, really gooooood!!  Fresh lemon juice is the key to the excellent flavor.  I didn't add artichokes like I had planned (because a certain someone in my family that I've been hanging out with for 40 years, doesn't LIKE them!!) but if you like them, it would definitely be good.  I'm going to make it again tonight and invite the neighbors!!

You HAVE TO make this dessert TODAY!!!  I'm not kidding...I served it to a group of friends and everyone DEMANDED that I give them the recipe...RIGHT NOW!!...well, here it is, you demanding, obsessive, controlling women!!!  Just know I love it when you boss me around...yeah, right.  All kidding aside, it would be great for Easter lunch.  I combined 2 different recipes to make it better.

Enjoy these new ideas and enjoy cooking...your family will bow at your feet and beg for more!!

Love you gals (and guys),

For menu planning, I get out my handy-dandy menu sheet that I print from . (I highly recommend this website for all kinds of household planning sheets). I look at the week ahead and any activities we have coming up and plan around those. So if we have our homeschool co-op, then I plan something easy and fast for that night, knowing I'll be worn out when it comes time to cook dinner! I also schedule in one pancake supper and about every other week I plan beans and rice. This really gives me a break! When I write down the meals, I will write the main dish and any specialty bread to buy or salad that I want to make. I also keep huge bags of frozen veggies and I make one or two to go along with the meal, along with potatoes or rice usually.
Since I homeschool and my kids are with me all day, I also plan breakfast and lunch. This is usually the same from week to week, fast and easy. I generally transfer the same b-fast and lunch from one week to the next, adding some special meals every now and then. Hope this helps!

I love it when you share the whole meal idea - meat, veggies, bread and dessert. Sometimes I find it hard to figure out what goes with what and I know you will take care of that for me! I'm excited about the CBC event and can't wait to see you there! And thanks for posting that dessert! I was one of those crazy, demanding women asking for it!
